Patrick J Finn

Patrick J. Finn Studied Indian art, culture and textiles and written professionally since 1993. He consulted with Governors in the USA, national and community organizations, museums and private textile collectors including the International Quilt Museum at the University of Nebraska. Mr. Finn is a former Affiliate with the American Institute of Indian Studies, New Delhi. His unique competences for research and writing, publishing and photography, integrate a multi-disciplinary approach. The diversity of fabrics utilized in quiltmaking required Finn to become familiar with many traditional textiles. The New Delhi World Book Fair, 2015 awarded Finn Second Place for Reference Books for Quilts of India: Timeless Textiles (Niyogi 2014). The Quilts of India also had the honor of being nominated for the prestigious R. L. Shep Award given by the Textile Society of America. Other publications include Field Guide for India, Bangladesh & Pakistan and India Up Close express his commitment to Indian’s culture and diversity. Recently, Finn’s article on the India Quilt Festival appeared in the August-September 2019 edition of Quilting Arts Magazine. Forthcoming, is his book QUILT STORY: The Cultural Heritage defining the tangible and intangible cultural heritage of quiltmaking on the subcontinent.
