Justice Dr. Radhabinod Pal (1886-1967), still remembered across the globe for his dissentient judgement at the International Military Tribunal for the Far East, was born in Salimpur, a remote village under Daulatpur police station in Kushtia of Bangladesh. Essentially com-mitted to the cause of the suffering and of the oppressed, an indomitable Dr. Pal in his famous judgement had boldly written, "When time shall have softened passion and prejudice, when Reason shall have stripped the mask from misrepresentation, then justice, holding evenly her scales, will require much of past censure and praise to change places". Although Dr. Pal lived in Kolkata, West Bengal, the faraway village in Bangladesh where he was born had always been a living presence for him. That he built his vacation home two-three miles Halsa, malaria-ridden forest a away area from named Kakiladaha under Mirpur police station of Kushtia, is a testimony to his unending love and affection for his motherland. During long vacations and on weekends, he stayed there. In the context of injustice, stifling of the rule of law, decadence of values, invasion of imperialists in different forms, the sorry state of world peace, the global thinker Justice Radhabinod Pal's life- oriented knowledge, fearless decision-making, firm initiatives and strict vows can act as sources of endless inspiration for all.
